Acer rubrum 'Redpointe®'

Redpointe® Red Maple

Introduced by J Frank Schmidt Nursery in 2006, this selection is their top-selling tree. Selected for improved branch angles and a strong central leader, it has an ideal pyramidal shape. The shape plus the brilliant red fall color make this introduction a street tree standout. It also has a faster growth rate similar to that normally found in Acer x freemanii and is adapted to higher pH soils.

Red maples provide cover for wildlife, nesting sites for birds, and are a good source of early-season nectar.

Reliable, cold tolerant, heat tolerant, early red fall color, and uniformity make this an excellent choice.

  • Strongly pyramidal habit with a dominant central leader
